Hypnosis – and its uses in the practice of hypnotherapy – has emerged as a highly effective scientific method for solving people’s problems. It can be beneficial on its own or as an adjunct to traditional forms of treatment.

How Does It Work?

All humans have two distinct minds: the conscious and the subconscious. The subconscious mind is vastly more powerful, yet it is less understood. The subconscious mind retains all the messages we receive from our life experiences, including all our daily conflicts (large or small.) It also controls our bodily functions, automatic behaviors and habits. While the conscious mind’s job is to give us willpower, the subconscious mind is stronger. When conscious willpower tries to battle subconscious urges, it will lose. This is the reason why so many people fail at their goals. They are, in effect, working with the wrong part of their mind.

Essentially, hypnosis opens the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. When we can allow the conscious mind to communicate with the subconscious mind, we can begin to address specific problems. The subconscious mind is also the seat of memory, where traumatic events can be buried or suppressed. A major benefit of hypnotherapy is its ability to uncover and resolve these buried experiences, therefore allowing us to transcend them.
